Under-23 World Championship Silver Medalist.
What he lacks in gym strength he more then makes up for in boat moving ability. You will often find Anthony with his earpods in, worrying about his boat setup.
Known in the crew as 'Fluffer'.
Anthony Allen began his rowing career in 2007 at Saint Kentigern College, and after finishing school rowing he joined Waikato Rowing Club and Waikato RPC. He was first selected for a New Zealand team in 2014 as a member of the U23 men’s coxed four. Anthony and his crew produced a blistering final 500m at the World Championships in Varese, Italy, to take a silver medal just 0.6s from gold. After a domestic season with the NZ summer squad, Anthony was selected in the elite men’s coxless four. He spent the next three seasons in this boat class, narrowly missing out on Olympic qualification in 2016. Anthony was selected in the men’s eight in 2018, but shoulder surgery ruled him out of contention for the World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Off the water he is working towards a sport and exercise degree as well as his pilot’s licence. He enjoys basketball and cycling.
